my first join-y type thing
So, for some sick, sick reason, I love the she-knits and Yarn Thing podcasts. They are awesome. The cool thing is that neither one of them has anything in common with me . . . and for some reason, I feel really connected. She-knits' discussion about women and our work in her episode "Balance" was great and I like hearing a "more mature" woman talk about the way she feels. So here it is:
I joined the holiday KAL-CAL . We'll see how this goes. I'm about 3" away from being done w/ my mom's socks, so I'll have something to post.Sunday, October 28, 2007
super sunday
I woke up bright and early this morning with my gf and got her off to a school meeting okay and walked out into my sweet little kitchen, recently painted. I made some delicious coffee and promptly started on my goal for today: white bean and escarole soup. Proud to say it came out delicious and even gf, who doesn't eat anything green, pronounced it delish and ate a huge bowl. I noticed that Lizzie was sleeping on the couch b/c it was too COLD in my bedroom for her last night -- good sleeping weather!
CUPCAKES!
I remembered that a while ago I bought a Halloween funfetti mix and frosting so I made giant cupcakes with extra sprinkles to surprise all my friends. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix tonight at the cheap seats (finally!) and maybe MAYBE finishing the socks. How wonderful. I also "walked away the pounds" this morning for the first time in a long loooooong time, so we'll se how long this lasts. Good Luck to me.

terrible . . . terrific? Tuesday
This Tuesday could be considered terrible, or terriffic. A little back up info: I work Wednesday thru Saturday, which makes my weekend Sunday-Monday-Tuesday. Which means, in effect, I have Sunday Syndrome* on Tuesdays. This is weird for a few reasons. Number One, I still get Sunday Syndrome onSundays. Just conditioning, I think. Number Two, everyone else is in full swing on a Tuesday. Which means none of that lazy, lay about feeling that pervades a Sunday afternoon. No, everyone's just a-bustlin' around, while I am still getting over my temporary, weekly depression and trying to cook enough food to last the four days I'm working so I'm not tempted to order out during my weekdays.
The weekend was weird. Saturday, Mama took me over to my Aunt Peggy's house and we had a mish-mosh dinner that, while delicious, left something to be desired and all I wanted to do was nap. Sunday, Visitation Parish (Honey's Parish) closed, so me and the great-uncles and my mom all went to the last mass. Mixed feelings on this. No, I'm not Catholic, or even christian anymore, BUT it would be nice to denouce them without being kicked off the team first. Just that gay-hating, we've-got-the-only-god thing that irks me a little. Monday was spent with Miss J buying hair stuff and straightening hair, plus organizing this crazy house a little. Tuesday (terrible or terrific?) I watched the movie Hard Candy (2005). Definitely, everyone who reads this (does anyone?) should see this uber-awesome movie right now and I wish I could do this in real life.Work tomorrow, then a short day, then . . . . TORI!!!! At Shea's!!!!! I am so pumped I decided to use extra exclamation marks. I hope she plays everything from American Doll Posse.
One the knitting front:
1. I am almost done with the Tyrolean Socks. Now, committing o being a one-project knitter with a low stash, I am so excited to be done with these bitches.
2. I can't find any of my circs, which I put away somewhere neatly where I would never lose them. Which means I either have to:
a. buy new
b. knit the "Falling Leaves" hat for Sarah in dpns
c. turn the house upside down before I find them
I have a few days to rectify this b/c I usually don't knit when I work.
3. I am loving ravelry, esp. since I friended this new girl who looks like as big as me and knits herself lots of stuff. I SOOOOO want a sweater for me but I am SOOOOOO nervous it won't fit and I will def. be swiping some of her ideas for good patterns. This is why I love ravelry, b/c you see people wearing stuff and it's . . . perfect. So, that's research for the future. I, in fact, love it so much that I donated, as should you.
That's it for today. . . lady lover's coming home and she'll need the comp. for school stuff! will edit this post to add pics later, when I can get the camera to love me again.

not a bad day, all in all
the two guys i had first thing this morning were actually really cool and they have:
1. a westie
2. a mini schnauzer
it was a pretty good day. dinner was casa di pizza bacon and pineapple pizza. started reading A Good Yarn by Debbie Macomber. how freakin' cute is this book. I missed The Shop on Blossom Street so i might have to read that next. just too tired to do any REAL knitting.
c'est la vie.

just ask jesus
jesus loves ravelry, and so do i!
dude, this shit is sick. I totally love ravelry and if you haven't signed up for it yet, do. also, there's a queen city group, and i have my first friend! i missed the whole facebook/myspace craze, so this is cool for me.
on the knitting front, i can't knit for a little bit -- like, sunday -- b/c i hurt my wrist w/ repetetive strain at work and need to save its meager function for tomorrow. my socks are crying out to me, esp. b/c i want to start on sarah's hat soon. her birthday is coming up!
lizzie -- the feral schnauzer living in my house -- has an ear infection and a skin infection. she had her medicated bath today and attempted to break and run while wet. that fucker is hard to catch when she's as slippery as a baby seal!
busy appointment book at work tomorrow -- two new clients, exciting. i'm a little nervous b/c they're off the street guys and they can get, well, fussy about their hair. whatev.
listening to: joni mitchell, Hejira, "hejira"
just my mood
